베드로후서 1-3장 말씀 묵상

For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love. For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. (베드로후서 1장 5-8절)

신앙은 그냥 지켜지지 않는다. 우리의 노력이 필요하다. 베드로도 그렇게 말해주고 있다. 그리고 그런 노력은 지식을 더하고, 우리 자신을 통제하는 능력도 필요로 한다. 인내의 시간도 있을 것이란 사실을 베드로는 말해주고 있다. 그리고 예수님을 닮아가는 것은 그런 과정을 통해 만들어지는 것도. 

오늘날 우리는 너무 많은 것을 빨리, 빨리 처리하고 치우는데만 익숙한 것은 아닌지, 돌아보게 되는 부분이다. 

But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance. But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything in it will be laid bare. (베드로후서 3장 8-10절)

하나님의 시간과 나의 시간은 다르다. 나는 내 생애를 기준으로 빠르고 느림을 판단하지만 천지를 창조하신 하나님의 시간은 전체를 관통하는 관점에서 보신다. 그리고 내 삶에 있어서도 우린 지금, 이 순간 우리가 원하는 것을 원하지만 하나님은 우리 삶 전체를 하나의 그림으로 그리시고 그 안에서 타이밍을 결정하신다. 모든 것을 overlook하시니까. 

신앙이 좋다고, 하나님을 믿는다고 해서, 그냥 모든게 내 마음에 맞는 시간에 잘 풀리는 것은 아니다. 하나님이 보시는 때에, 하나님이 보시기에 합당한 타이밍에 이뤄질 따름이다.
