민수기 15장-23장 말씀 묵상

The priest is to make atonement for the whole Israelite community, and they will be forgiven, for it was not intentional and they have brought to the LORD for their wrong an offering made by fire and a sin offering. The whole Israelite community and the aliens living among them will be forgiven, because all the people were involved in the unintentional wrong......One and the same law applies to everyone who sins unintentionally, whether he is a native-born Israelite or an alien. (민수기 15장 25-26, 29절)

우리는 너무 자주, 구약에서 하나님께서 본인 마음에 들지 않으면 일방적으로 죽이거나 벌하셨다고 생각하는 경향이 있다. 하지만 하나님께서는 엄연히 그들의 마음을 보셨다. 우리의 마음은 행동으로 나오게 되어있는바, 겉으로 봤을 때는 행동으로 인해 벌하신 것으로 보일 수 있으나, 하나님인 위 말씀에서처럼 의도, 마음에 따라 벌하기도 하고 그렇지 않기도 하셨다. 우린 하나님을 원망하기에 앞서, 나의 행동을 하게 된 마음을 돌아볼 줄 아는 사람이 되어야 한다. 그게, 우선이다. 

They quarreled with Moses and said, 'If only we had died when our brothers fell dead before the LORD! Why did you bring the LORD's community into this desert, that we and our livestock should die here? Why did you bring us up out of Egypt to this terrible place? It has no grain or figs, grapevines or pomegranates. And there is no water to drink!' (민수기 20장 3-5절)

아... 정말 지겹고, 지겹다... 그놈의 이집트... 지겹다... 도대체 언제까지 이런단 말인가... 나도 화가 나고 짜증이 나는데, 성경에 기록되지 않은 불평, 불만과 원망은 더 많았을텐데... 뭘 보여줘도 하나님을 믿지 않는 이스라엘 사람들의 모습은 정말... 지겹다...

우린 이걸 느끼면서 구약에서의 하나님을 알아가야 한다. 그러면 이렇게까지 하나님을 판단하진 못할 것이다. 

Then Moses raised his arm and struck the rock twice with his staff. Water gushed out, and the community and their livestock drank. But the LORD said to Moses and Aaron, 'Because you did not trust in me enough to honor me as holy in the sight of the Israelites, you will not bring this community into the land I give them.' (민수기 20장 11-12절)

우리는 사후세계, 천국에 대해 너무 단순하게 생각하는 경향이 있다. 예수천당, 불신지옥이란 명제가 잘못된 것은 이 때문이다. 성경은 어디에서도 그런 단순한 논리를 내세우지 않는다. 그 기준으로 하면 모세는, 하나님을 온전히 신뢰하지 않았단 이유로 돌을 두 번 쳐서 약속의 땅에 들어가지 못하게 된 모세는 천국에 가나 지옥에 가나?!

그 명제가 잘못된 또다른 것은 [불신]의 기준도 명확하지 않기 때문이다. 하나님을 정말 믿는다면, 어떻게 오늘날 교회 다니는 사람들이 보이는 모습을 보이고, 왜 두려워하겠나?

우리가 모르는 것을 아는척하면서 교리로, 율법으로 만들기보다 오늘보다 내일, 내일보다 모레 하나님 안에 더 잘 거하기 위한 노력을 해야 한다. 그게, 성경적인 삶이다.
