예레미야 18-23장 말씀 묵상

I am against you, Jerusalem, you who live above this valley on the rocky plateau, declares the LORD-you who say, 'Who can come against us? Who can enter our refuge?' I will punish you as your deeds deserve, declares the LORD. I will kindle a fire in your forests that will consume everything around you.' " (예레미야 21장 13-14절)

언젠가부터 하나님께서 구약에서 이렇게 벌할 것이라고 말씀하시는 구절들을 보면 그 안에서 하나님의 사랑을 느낀다. 하나님께서 정말 벌하려고 하시기보다는 두렵게 해서라도, 최후의 수단으로, 마지막 경고를 하면서 내 앞에 돌아오라고 하시는 것처럼 읽힌다. 그래서 벌하시겠다는 내용들도 은혜가 된다. 정말 사랑하지 않는 자들을 굳이 벌하시겠나? 우리가 우리와 아무 상관도 없는 사람한테 화를 내고 협박을 할까? 야단치고? 아니다. 야단치고 혼내는 것은, 사랑하고 아끼는 마음이 있기 때문이다. 

I did not send these prophets, yet they have run with their message; I did not speak to them, yet they have prophesied. But if they had stood in my council, they would have proclaimed my words to my people and would have turned them from their evil ways and from their evil deeds...... 'Therefore,' declares the LORD, 'I am against the prophets who steal from one another words supposedly from me. Yes," declares the LORD, "I am against the prophets who wag their own tongues and yet declare, 'The LORD declares.' Indeed, I am against those who prophesy false dreams,' declares the LORD. 'They tell them and lead my people astray with their reckless lies, yet I did not send or appoint them. They do not benefit these people in the least,' declares the LORD. (예레미야 23장 21-22절 / 30-32)

오늘날 한국에서 교회에 나가는 사람들은 자신들이 교회에 나간다는 이유만으로, 성경 내용을 전한다는 이유만으로 괜찮을 것이라 생각한다. 하지만 성경은 그렇지 않다는 것을 말해주고 있다. 하나님은 하나님의 이름을 파는 자들, 입으로는 하나님, 하나님 하고 껍데기만 기독교인 자들을 사랑하지 않으신다. 우리는 우리 삶을 면밀하게 돌아볼 필요가 있다.
