에스더 5-10장 말씀 묵상

'If it pleases the king,' replied Esther, 'let the king, together with Haman, come today to a banquet I have prepared for him.'...If the king regards me with favor and if it pleases the king to grant my petition and fulfill my request, let the king and Haman come tomorrow to the banquet I will prepare for them. Then I will answer the king's question."...It was found recorded there that Mordecai had exposed Bigthana and Teresh, two of the king's officers who guarded the doorway, who had conspired to assassinate King Xerxes. 'What honor and recognition has Mordecai received for this?' the king asked. 'Nothing has been done for him,' his attendants answered. The king said, 'Who is in the court?' Now Haman had just entered the outer court of the palace to speak to the king about hanging Mordecai on the gallows he had erected for him. (에스더 5장 4, 8절 / 6장 2-4절)

우리는 흔히 에스더가 왕 앞에 용감하게 나가서 이스라엘 민족을 위험에서 건져냈다고만 생각한다. 물론, 맞다. 그런 면도 분명 있다. 하지만 오늘 말씀을 보면, 에스더는 자신을 위해 기도해주실 것을 부탁했고, 왕 앞에 갑자기 나가서 자신의 요구를 들어달라고 한 것이 아니라 자신이 무엇인가를 움직이기 전에 자리를 마련했고, 그 사이에 하나님께서 먼저 일하시도록 기다렸으며, 하나님께서 일하시는 흐름 속에서 자신의 요청을 왕에게 전했다.

모든 것은 타이밍이다. 인생이 그렇다. 우리는 우리의 타이밍 속에 있나? 아니면 하나님의 타이밍을 기다리고, 맞출 줄 아는가? 우리는 항상 하나님께서 일하실 공간을 드리고, 일하실 수 있도록 기다려야 한다. 

For the Jews it was a time of happiness and joy, gladness and honor. In every province and in every city, wherever the edict of the king went, there was joy and gladness among the Jews, with feasting and celebrating. And many people of other nationalities became Jews because fear of the Jews had seized them. (에스더 8장 16-17절)

유대인들이 하나님께서 이런 방식으로 자신들을 보호하고 인도해주실 것이란 사실을 알았을까? 몰랐을 것이다. 우리는 하나님께서 우릴 어떻게 보호하고, 인도해주시는지를 제대로 알고, 느끼고 살아가고 있을까? 그러지 못한 경우가 더 많은 듯하다. 깊게 생각해 볼 지점들이다.
