열왕기하 18-21장 말씀 묵상

Has the god of any nation ever delivered his land from the hand of the king of Assyria? Where are the gods of Hamath and Arpad? Where are the gods of Sepharvaim, Hena and Ivvah? Have they rescued Samaria from my hand?Who of all the gods of these countries has been able to save his land from me? How then can the LORD deliver Jerusalem from my hand?' (열왕기하 18장 33-35절)

세상은 항상 하나님을 믿는 사람들에게 이걸 봐라, 저걸 봐라 이래도 네 하나님을 믿냐, 네가 옳냐고 묻는다. 그리고 그 말들은 설득력이 없지도 않다. 그렇다보니 적지 않은 사람들은 이런저런 방향으로 흔들린다. 심지어 하나님을 타협시키기도 한다. 이런저런건 말이 안된다는 본인만의 기준으로 말이다. 

복음은 있는 그대로를, 전지전능하신 하나님을 믿는 것이다. 내 마음대로 안되고, 세상의 기준에서 좋은 것이나 성공이 이뤄지지 않았다고 해서 회피하거나 부정하는 것이 아니라 그대로 믿고 받아들이는 것이다. 그리고 그것이 진실인지, 진리인지는 시간이 지나고, 그 길의 끝에서 알게 되는 것이다. 

In those days Hezekiah became ill and was at the point of death. The prophet Isaiah son of Amoz went to him and said, 'This is what the LORD says: Put your house in order, because you are going to die; you will not recover.' Hezekiah turned his face to the wall and prayed to the LORD, 'Remember, O LORD, how I have walked before you faithfully and with wholehearted devotion and have done what is good in your eyes.' And Hezekiah wept bitterly. Before Isaiah had left the middle court, the word of the LORD came to him: "Go back and tell Hezekiah, the leader of my people, 'This is what the LORD, the God of your father David, says: I have heard your prayer and seen your tears; I will heal you. On the third day from now you will go up to the temple of the LORD. I will add fifteen years to your life. And I will deliver you and this city from the hand of the king of Assyria. I will defend this city for my sake and for the sake of my servant David.' " (열왕기하 20장 1-6절)

우리는 흔히 '하나님의 계획'에 대해 말하면 하나님은 계획을 바꾸지 않는 분으로 전제하고 정해진 길이 있다고 생각한다. 하지만 하나님이 인간에게 자유의지를 허락하신 이상 하나님의 계획은 그런 성격을 가질 수가 없다. 하나님의 계획은 기본틀이 있고 우리에게 가장 바라시는, 기뻐하시는 선택은 있지만 그걸 강제하거나 그것만 길이라고 하시진 않는다고 해석하는 것이 타당할 것이다.

우리가 하나님께 항상 묻고, 하나님의 뜻을 알아가기 위해 노력해야 하는 여러 이유 중 한 가지는 이 때문이다. 다른 인간들이 발휘한 자유의지에 따라 형성된 landscape에서 하나님께서 기뻐하실 선택이나 길은 달라졌을 수 있기 때문에. 우린 그걸 늘 염두에 두고 항상, 매일, 순간순간마다 하나님을 붙들기 위해 노력해야만 한다.
